COMMON QUESTIONS AND INQUIRIES
How does your work stand out from others?
I have an eye for the unique. I like to take in the whole environment before capturing perfect moments. I also like to get to know my clients and hope to build a friendly and professional relationship. Getting to know the personality of those I'm photographing enables me to capture their sense of style and character.
How did you decide to get in your line of work?
I've always been interested in photography and the older I got, the more experience, equipment and clients I began to acquire.
Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
I can honestly say I am proud of every job I do. Everyone is different and creating a sort of magic out of even the most ordinary of atmospheres always fills me with excitement. One I'm particularly proud of was conducted at Cleveland's Lakeview Cemetery. It may seem like a weird environment to shoot, especially when it becomes know, I was photographing a family, but we focused on the beautiful monuments, lakes, trees and unique backdrop we were so privileged to have available to us. These are some of my favorite portraits to date and most wouldn't even know they were captured at a cemetery.
What do you like most about your job?
I love getting to know those around me and photographing them during life changing moments. By conveying their stories through image, I feel as if I can capture a piece of their heart and freeze an unforgettable moment in time.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
Always ask questions. Get to know your photographer and get reassured they are going to not just take photos but capture the essence of you.
Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
I mostly take photos of weddings, events, family or group shots or solo portraits.
Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
I'm always keeping up-to-date on the latest technology and advancements and welcome the knowledge of those around me.
What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
Be prepared to bring a sense of you to every meeting. I can take stock photos but it's always better when I know what your interests, thoughts and ideas are.
Everyone has a digital camera now, can't I capture the same photos?
The answer is both yes and no. You may be able to get a similar picture however the quality will not be the same as most cameras shoot in JPEG, which offer limited editing options. I shoot in RAW. The difference between JPEG and RAW is JPEG is like receiving the actual picture while RAW is like acquiring the negative. I am able to manipulate the color, lighting and focal point of the picture more effectively with RAW than with JPEG.
I'm also very well trained in the area of photography. I know what I'm looking for when I capture a moment. Whether it's posed or impromptu, there is an art to knowing how to grab the "perfect" shot.
If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
Take a good look at the world around you and then look again. Always find a new perspective and never look at your surroundings the same way twice.
